Vaccines
Vaccine research at the IHR focuses on three areas of importance to the public, Kaiser Permanente members, and policymakers: safety, hesitancy, and delivery. Since 2000, we have partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on a national, multi-site project called the Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD). The VSD project studies the safety of all vaccines currently licensed for use in the US. Our research group also designs, conducts and implements behavioral interventions designed to reduce vaccination concerns and improve vaccine acceptance among parents. Finally, our research group studies methods to increase vaccination coverage rates.

Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD) Project
Investigators: Jason Glanz, PhD and Matthew F. Daley, MD
The major goal of this project is to evaluate the safety of currently licensed vaccines in the U.S. To accomplish this, we lead specific vaccine safety studies, and use privacy-protecting approaches to contribute electronic clinical data to multiple vaccine safety investigations.
